SUMMARY:Community Weed Pull - Ashland Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:Help remove invasives at the newly opened Ashland Arboretum. Th
 is site was previously home to the Cadilac Paint Factory and has undergone
  significant remediation. The site is now a free public outdoor arboretum 
 for the regional community to learn about native plants that can be plante
 d in their own yards. The majority of this site is an open meadow with lim
 ited shade. There is a forested section as well\, with accessible paths on
  part of the property.\n\nInvasives on site include:\n\n 	Asiatic Bittersw
 eet\n 	Glossy Buckthorn\n 	Common Buckthorn\n 	Multiflora Rose\n 	Tree of 
 Heaven\n 	Norway Maple\n 	Spotted Knapweed\n 	Mugwort\n\nThe focus for thi
 s event will be on Bittersweet and Mugwort\; however\, younger participant
 s or other participants unable to use larger tools\, can work on hand pull
 ing mugwort and knapweed or assist in moving removed invasives to the coll
 ection pile.\n\nPlease wear long pants\, sun protective clothing\, closed-
 toe shoes\, and gloves. Water will be provided\; however\, you are encoura
 ged to bring your own.\n\nShovels\, shears\, loppers\, pick mattocks\, saw
 s\, and other tools\, including at least one weed wrench will be provided\
 ; however\, you are encouraged to bring our own tools if you prefer to do 
 so.\n\nPoison Ivy is on the site\, but can generally be avoided. We will h
 ave tecnu on site for poison ivy treatment should contact be made.\n\nAddi
