SUMMARY:Maine Mass Timber Conference
DESCRIPTION:October 11 8:45AM - 6:00PM\nUniversity of Maine Orono\nNEFF Dep
uty Director Frank Lowenstein will be speaking at the Maine Mass Timber Co
nference this fall. The conference is open to the public\, so we encourage
you to register if you’d like to attend. Frank will join John Klein of
MIT Architecture in presenting “CLT in Context” at 3:30 p.m.\n\nAbout
the event: “Many are predicting the coming of a Timber Age\, where North
ern forests and rural economies supply the growing demand for urban constr
uction and housing.  In the Northeast\, Maine and its forests sit atop on
e of the largest urban population centers on the planet. With over 90% of
its land base covered in trees\, Maine is the most heavily forested state
in the nation\, making it a prime candidate for economic revitalization t
hrough the sustainable production of mass timber. Hosted by the Maine Mass
Timber Commercialization Center (MMTCC) in partnership with WoodWorks\, t
his conference is part of an initiative to invigorate the region’s fores
t-based economy by bringing innovative mass timber manufacturing and proje
cts to the State of Maine.”\n\nLearn more and register at the University
  of Maine website.
