We will focus on removing buckthorn, multiflora rose, honeysuckle, and bittersweet from an area that was treated in previous years. Specimens in the field are small and we will manually pull plants or use hand tools as needed. The plant material will be stacked in brush piles and managed to prevent re-establishment.
Parts of the field will be shaded but expect sun exposure. Poison ivy will be present in some work areas and can be avoided in other areas.
What to Bring to a Workday
* Water
* Insect/tick repellant
* Sun protection (hat and/or lotion)
* **Closed toed shoes (required)**
* Long sleeves/pants
* Gloves (we have a few extra pairs)
* Eye protection
The Land Trust will have tools available to share. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tools as well. Most commonly used tools include loppers, spade shovel, root slayer, mini pick mattock, and hand-held weed pulling tools.
