Join OARS for a volunteer water chestnut pull at the Bedford Boat Launch on the Concord River. Water chestnut (Trapa natans) is an invasive aquatic plant that forms dense floating mats, harming native habitat, reducing oxygen in the water, and impacting recreation. Help us protect this Wild & Scenic river by pulling invasive plants by hand from boats and along the shoreline. Canoes, life vests, gloves, and baskets will be provided. Be prepared to get a little wet and dirty while making an immediate impact on the health of our waterways!
To Know Before You Go:
- Dress appropriately for the day’s weather conditions
- Bring plenty of water
- Sunscreen is highly recommended
- Wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting wet or dirty — trust us, you’ll probably get muddy!
