Details: Invasive water chestnut(Trapa natans) is a noxious aquatic plant forming dense, floating mats that choke waterways, displacing native species, hindering recreation, and reducing oxygen in the river. Control involves hand-pulling.

Over the past few years, water chestnut invaded a Wild & Scenic section of the Concord River. Despite efforts in May, when Weed Warriors pulled young rosettes from the river’s surface, dense mats forming seeds popped up.
